Visits to Mogok are not allowed since the middle of 2005.

 

The highest quality of rubies is mined in this area. The town is situated around 8 hours drive Northeast of Mandalay.
Visits to Mogok were not allowed beginning of 2005, might however be permitted again in future. The town has a market where gems are traded.
