Fascinating Land Travel & Tours' Itinerary

Itinerary FLT 15 extension

FLT extension - Overnight trekking in Shan State

We can presently offer this itinerary but authorities may prohibit it in future without advance notice.

Kalaw - Pindaya (trekking)
Recommend for people who are used to trekking and in good physical shape

Day 1. Kalaw - Taungbaw Gyi - Yasagyi Village (by car and trekking)
Day 2. Yasagyi - Me' Neltaung - Pindaya

Day 1. After breakfast, you will transfer to Myegya village by car (around 1 hour) and start your trekking trip to Yasagi Village. Visit on the way will include Taungbaw Gyi Monastery, Palaung and Pa-O ethnic villages. You will see the local, untouristic village life, charoot wrapping leave-, tea- and orange plantations. It is around 7 hours walking through changing landscape, in some parts relatively steep uphill. Overnight stay at Yasagyi Palaung Monastery. Very basic Lunch and Dinner will be served.

Day 2. After a traditional breakfast, continue your trekking trip mainly downhill via Me' Neltaung and Pin Seinbin villages through pine and deciduous forests. A basic Lunch will be provided on the way. In the afternoon you will reach Pindaya. This day you will walk around 5 hours.
Dinner on your own account.

Important remarks:
The trekking is strenuous if one is not experienced. It is however no climb. The landscape is very attractive; you walk through areas that have not seen mass-tourism. We will transfer your main luggage by car to Pindaya, so you need to carry light luggage for the 2 days only. Please bring warm clothes as it might be very cold during the night (minimum temperature can be 3 degrees Celsius in January, during the day it is warm with intense sun)
There are no mosquito nets provided, but during the cold season also not needed. There is no electricity, although a generator might be switched on at times!
The trekking is during dry season (November to March) advisable only as the grounds become very slippery during the rainy season (June to October). The trip during the rainy season is actually very interesting due to the different colors of plants and flowers but only recommended to experienced trekkers.
All meals during the tour are included. Please expect simple home cooking style, prepared by your trekking guide.
The porter(s) will carry bottled drinking water and provisions.
Very basic overnight stay at a local Monastery is available to you; only providing mats on the floor and blankets to cover yourself. There is no comfort at all. Myanmar style "bathrooms" and "toilets" can be used. No hot shower available, please bring your own towels. The accommodation is not even at the level of a guesthouse.

Hotel:  Very basic village houses or monasteries, no comfort at all!

Included:

  • Very basic accommodation at village house or Monastery.

  • Main luggage transfer from Kalaw to Pindaya by car is included.

  • Private car to reach the starting point for your trekking.
